Waste: It's A Climate Change Issue

On Thursday 6 December 2007, WSN Environmental Solutions held a Customer Forum on Waste: It's a climate change issue. Keynote speakers were ABC Radio National presenter, Robyn Williams who spoke about waste as a greenhouse gas issue and current climate change initiatives, and Dr. John Hewson who explained what is involved with a carbon emissions trading scheme, why waste should be included in the scheme and the implications for local government. Other speakers included WSN's Ken Kanofski who spoke about possible strategies for councils to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from waste and Dr. Ron Wainberg who spoke about the technologies available to treat waste and their respective GHG emissions performance.

A new easy guide to waste and greenhouse gas emissions was also launched during the forum. The guide has been produced to help decision makers and interested community members understand the effect of waste on climate change.
